Highways CAD Planning Engineer based at West London Service Centre - July 2015 *NEW*

Providing CAD support within the Planning Design and Maintenance Department of our Traffic Management team the applicant will be responsible for assisting the Senior Planner in carrying out functions primarily related to the production of Traffic Management Drawings updating client’s As-built records and associated databases along with `Affected` Client Plant Enquiry responses.

The main day to day duties of the applicant will include but not limited to delivering consistently high standard of CAD work, preparing and issuing Traffic Management scheme drawings to Amber-RTM Operational Departments, processing essential updates to our client’s As-built records and associated databases, liaising with local authorities, highways agency, clients etc. as well as ensuring all processes and procedures are adhered to at all times to maximise operations within the department.

The ideal candidate for this role will have 6-12 months experience within a similar position, ideally producing Traffic Management plans, you will have a minimum beginner Level 1 in CONES software and have used BRICSCAD or similar TM software and Maps 2007 onwards.

You will have the ability to build new relationship with people within the company in order to gain the best results and demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.

Contracts Manager - April 2015 *NEW*

We are currently seeking suitably qualified contracts managers to join our operations in London and the South East.

As a contracts manager you will help to win contracts, and manage projects through to completion, keeping them on time and within budget. Contracts could include all types of traffic management and traffic signals works including traffic management for events.You might also be responsible for a single large contract or a number of smaller ones. You would also be the main point of contact for clients, site managers and building contractors throughout the project.

Your main responsibilities would include:

  • meeting with clients to get a fuller idea of their needs

  • putting together estimates, including budgets and timescales

  • preparing and presenting documents for tenders

  • contributing to work planning, and briefing project teams, contractors and suppliers

  • agreeing any additional work to be done within set timescales

  • gathering all information together for invoicing during the course of the project

  • supplying information to resolve disputes if they arise

  • identifying areas for improvement in existing contracting processes

You would work closely with other construction professionals including construction managers, quantity surveyors and planning engineers.

An opportunity has become available for a Manager/Supervisor at our London Service Centre to manage all depot and site based activities whilst ensuring compliance to the company procedures and current legislation.

With support from the Company’s senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be accountable for:

Health and Safety

  • Ensure all paperwork issued to the workforce conforms to the current legislation and guidance and is in line with the Quality Management System.
  • Develop for approval site specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Undertake weekly site visits to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Ensure the workforce are updated of any changes in policy and or legislation in the form of Toolbox Talks.
  • Ensure that the Depot is clean and tidy at all times.

Works Delivery

  • Ensure that adequate resource is available both in and out of hours.
  • Ensure that the work force are informed of the companies expectations and that they have the information required to fulfil these.
  • Manage and maintain the works program.
  • Monitor resource and stock levels on a monthly basis and report to line manager.
  • Liaise with clients on a day to day basis.
  • Produce Contract Packs as soon as an order is confirmed and ensure that all information relative to that order is recorded within.
  • Produce and distribute quotations based on agreed schedules of rates.
  • Analyse all paperwork returned by the workforce including timesheets.
  • Produce basic CAD drawings.
  • Raising and placing orders with the supply chain.
  • Participate in out of hours call out facility.
  • Raise weekly sales invoices.

Human Resources

  • Actively assist in the recruitment process.
  • Ensure that company procedures are adhered to by all employees.
  • Investigate breaches in discipline and or health and safety.
  • Ensure all employees are punctual and presentable.
  • Verify operative timesheets weekly.
  • Ensure working time directive is being adhered to.

Fleet Management

  • Implement and maintain a strict service schedule for all company vehicles.
  • Ensure all major defects are dealt with immediately and minor defects are corrected within 48 hours of them being reported.
  • Ensure all vehicle paperwork is recorded in line with company procedures.


  • Hold P & L responsibility for the depot.
  • Ensure all revenue is captured paying special attention to variations.
  • Ensure utilisation of resources is maximised to increase margins.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven track record of managing an operational office.
  • NHSS 12D T7 (minimum requirement).
  • Basic working knowledge of CAD.
  • Excellent customer care skills.
